Buy the BLACK+DECKER BPWM09W if you want the simpler machine with a faster spin and a quick-connect sink kit in the box. Buy the COMFEE’ 0.9 if you want to tweak wash, rinse and spin times yourself and you’re happy to pay a little less. Both are 0.9 cubic foot automatic top-loaders of nearly the same size, both have five programs and three water levels, and both are built for the same renter: one or two people, small loads, a kitchen sink as the water source. The differences are in the details, so here they are side by side.
The two machines at a glance
BLACK+DECKER figures are from the BLACK+DECKER product help center and the Home Depot listing. COMFEE’ figures are from the Home Depot listing and COMFEE’s owner’s manual. Prices were checked on Oct 14, 2026 and change often.
Where they’re the same
Both are small automatic washers: one drum, lid closed, the machine fills, washes, rinses, spins and drains. You don’t move wet clothes between tubs the way you do with a twin-tub. If that sounds like what you want but you’re not sure about automatics in general, the twin-tub vs automatic guide explains the tradeoff.
Both are also the same class of small: BLACK+DECKER rates its machine for up to 6.6 lb of laundry per load. Expect several loads a week for one person and more for two. Neither one is a full-size washer replacement.
And both still need a faucet to fill and a sink or tub to drain. That part of the setup is identical; see the sink setup guide.
Where the BLACK+DECKER wins
- Faster spin. 983 RPM against 840 RPM. A faster spin leaves clothes less wet, which matters when everything is air-drying in an apartment.
- Sink kit in the box. BLACK+DECKER lists a drain hose with a quick-connect sink adaptor. You may still need a faucet adapter if your aerator thread doesn’t match.
- Delay start and child lock. Delay start up to 24 hours is handy if your building has quiet hours.
- Fully documented specs. Dimensions, weight and load size are all published by the brand, so you can check it fits before you buy.
The catch: it’s cold water only. For most everyday laundry that’s fine. If you wash a lot of heavily soiled items, it’s a real limitation.
Where the COMFEE’ wins
- Price. The COMFEE’ has usually been the cheaper of the two. Prices change often, so check the current price on both before you decide.
- Adjustable cycles. You can pick load size and add wash, rinse and spin time. That’s useful for a heavier load or a sink that drains slowly.
- Pause to add clothes. COMFEE’ lists a reloading feature for the sock you forgot.
- Drain pump listed. Home Depot’s listing names a drain pump, which is what lets it empty into a counter-height sink. For pumps in general, see drain pump vs gravity drain.
The catch: it’s slightly wider (18.1 in vs 17.3 in) and spins slower.
Install notes from the manuals
COMFEE’s owner’s manual asks for water pressure of 14 to 70 psi, the faucet within 4 feet of the back of the washer, a grounded outlet and no extension cord. BLACK+DECKER’s manual asks for a 3-prong, grounded 120 V outlet on a 15-amp circuit and a level machine before the first load. These are standard for small washers, and both manuals recommend a test cycle first. Run it with someone watching the drain hose.
Which one should you buy?
- Tight on budget: COMFEE’ 0.9.
- Drying is the bottleneck: BLACK+DECKER, for the faster spin. Pair either one with a spin dryer if clothes still take too long on the rack.
- Narrow gap next to the fridge: BLACK+DECKER, which is a little narrower.
- You like to fine-tune cycles: COMFEE’.
- You need hot water: neither is a sure bet. BLACK+DECKER is cold only, and Home Depot’s COMFEE’ page doesn’t say. Check the COMFEE’ manual before you buy.
- Bigger household: look at a larger drum such as the Giantex 1.5 cu ft (1.5 cu ft / 11 lb, drain pump).

The short version
They’re close. The BLACK+DECKER is the better washer on paper, with a faster spin, a sink kit and fully published dimensions. The COMFEE’ is the better deal, with adjustable cycles and a lower price. If the price difference matters to you, the COMFEE’ is a fine choice. If it doesn’t, get the BLACK+DECKER.
